Living out of suitcase with a bunch of other people, sharing showers, sharing all those sleeping sounds...

Sounds like the hostels I stayed at while traveling in Europe in my early 20s.

You'd think people in tech would also figure out the benefit of working on tech... using remote technology.

I'd agree. there's no need to be in the Bay area.

How many sleeping pods is that guy cramming into the building as opposed to how many 1 room efficiency apartments could he pack in? My guess is he’s raking it in from these idiots.

You know, it looks fine to me. If I were young, single, and working hard.... I really DGAF where I'd sleep.

Yeah, but this isn’t saving them thousands of dollars a month, it’s saving them a couple hundred per month, at most. There are plenty of bedrooms that can be rented in 3-4 bedroom houses/apartments for under $1000 per month.

The pod hotels in Tokyo I stayed actually seem a bit nicer. USD$30/night (but maybe you could negotiate a long term rate that would make it equivalent to San Fran). Super clean bathrooms (of course - its Japan), lounge area on the first floor.

But......... no way in heck I would want to stay there long term.

I could just imagine that special Friday night… “Hey, babe… What do you say we get out of this dump and head on back to my pod?”
