I mean, that would be hilarious, and further galvanize the country against the cosplaying leftist infants. The law is going to be enforced however the Trump administration wants to enforce it, and cosplay resistance only works to MAGA's favor.

Not necessarily. Arrests are mostly made by state and local governments. They can choose to check the perp’s legal status, or not. And they can share it with ICE, or not. We already saw that in 2017-19.

I don't think Trump is going to be quite so hamstrung this time. I think they're a bit more savvy in what they can and cannot do.
Yes, there are some folks out there like the idiot in Denver, but I don't think sanctuary is the political plus it once was.

What happened? Canada said no thanks to a new province?

Nope. A change of heart is welcome today, tomorrow, or next week.
You’d rather her refuse to cooperate with ICE?

The Mayor of Denver is saying he will refuse and is willing to go to jail. My understanding is that this is a felony.
Homan says he''ll be glad to oblige.
I think Hochul might understand that Homan's serious. It would just take one subpoena.

There’s no law requiring local police to share immigration status with the feds.
Were you guys asleep 8 years ago?

I didn't say anything about cooperation, though your comment suggested it.
Rather, Mayor Johnston (no, not Johnson) said he will interfere. There's a difference.
The mayor also takes heart that the people of Denver — not just the administration — would likely resist a mass deportation effort from federal forces.
“More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnston said. “It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right? You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”

They do not have to share immigration status. But they cannot hinder federal officers in the performance of their duties.

He looks like he'll do fine in prison.

That’s obvious bluster.
The real question is to what extent states and major cities will cooperate with the feds. I’m happy to see this attitude from Kochul.
I would expect to see some level of cooperation from Adams, for three reasons. He has really felt the burden of too many immigrants, he has political cover from Kochul, and he has another very strong reason to stay in Trump’s good graces. And then there’s the whole ex-cop thing too.
