What I have to look forward to tonight. I will just keep my mouth shut.

Just posted on the Facebook Group page:

Thoughts on having a petition on hand for neighbors to sign at the meeting this evening that demands the immediate resignation of the Board and Diamond Management for Gross mismanagement and financial missapropriation?

Among the reasons we could cite:
-100%+ increase in fees owed to the HOA year over year
-consistent violations of rules around record keeping and transparency
-current stalemate over 55+ pool and fitness room
-inability to properly manage builder / developer relationships thus resulting in a haphazard approach to neighborhood expansion
-assaults on transparency and free speech when it comes to sharing challenges and concerns with HOA leadership

I’m sure we could easily add to this list, and I look forward to hearing the additional concerns our neighbors have with the current Board and Diamond management this evening!

Our small building has 22 residential units and 5 retail units. The HOA meetings are on Zoom, and they are always polite, friendly and efficient. Most of our residents are too old to be Karen-ish.

If there's really a doubling (or more) of fees year after year, I can see why someone is upset. I can also see this person making up facts since they seem to be the offended type.

New development, and the initial fees are set by the developer who often will understate them. To be expected.

Law in Illinois is that the HOA board can raise HOA fees up to (I believe) 14.5% per year without the consent of the association. Anything more than that requires a vote of the membership.

If the membership doesn't like the 14.5% hike, the remedy is to vote in a new board in the following year.

A normal monthly meeting lasts for about an hour, this was 4 hours.

A normal meeting might have 25-30 people, this was closer to 200.

Two police cars arrived about 2 hours into the meeting. My understanding is that several different people called the police because of a couple idiots who appeared threatening to some.

I didn't even know the police were in the building until I got home. I sit up front with the Board because I have a monthly report to present.

I really hate having to deal with the mental cases who have no idea what they are talking about and rant like mad men and women.

There were more than a few side-conversations with people trading insults and admonitions.

By the time I got home it was too late for whisky, maybe tonight.
