    WiFi extender question -

If you need to boost signal in a given room, should I place the extender in that room? Or in some intermediate place between that room and the router? My supposition is the latter but I thought I’d ask.

My experience with extenders is that it might be better to put it closer to the router. If signal is bad in bedroom 3 and router is in bedroom 1, put it in bedroom 2, assuming they are in a row.

I'm not Ax, by the way.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Yeah ... The real engineering answer will depend on the transmit signal strengths of the router and the extender and the area's radio frequency (RF) environment. But if we simplify away lots of things and assume the transmit signal strengths are roughly the same and assume the RF environment is roughly homogeneous throughout the area, then your best bet is usually to place the extender in some intermediate place between the router and where you want to use your device.

If you don't mine me asking, what sort of Wi-Fi extenders are you putting in?

          TP-link AX3000.

It was well rated and the same brand as my router.

The latter, for sure. Think of it as the telephone game, but you're yelling between walls/floors.

The point in your house where the signal from the base is still strong enough that the extender gets full speed but maximally close to the devices that are supposed to connect via the extender.
