Self righteous ignorance is more like it.

Obama was against gay marriage. Do you think schools named after him will have to change now that his previous view is no longer in alignment with the DC woke folk?
I'm trying to think of a good analogy here. It's almost like judging that a 1940s movie sucks because it wasn't filmed in 4K UHD. Judging the past based on the present...what a foolish game.

It is indeed.

Of course we knew it was coming.
Breaks my heart.
Many of these men were flawed, and who among us isn't? But the good they accomplished should eclipse that. No sense of perspective, history or time. 200 years from now, I wonder how these asshats will be remembered, if they are remembered at all.
The self-righteous arrogance is jaw-dropping.

Just me, I think.

The intellectual economics of the left are similar to the financial economics of communism. Workers pretend to work and the state pretends to pay them. The left pretends to have good ideas and the lefties pretend to believe them. None of this stuff passes any sniff test, but it’s wired into humans to turn off their sniff test for ideas they’d prefer to believe and that everybody around them believes. There’s no real difference between that and truth to most people.

I was scheduling a delivery of a piano today and when I asked for the address he told me it was Stonewall Jackson Highway... I commented that delivery would take 2 weeks and the address will have likely changed by then and he responded “and about time...”

I remember visiting the spot where Jackson was shot. There’s a tall stone marker, not far from the highway. I think I was 12, it was a class trip to DC from Florida.

Forgot to mention that he then brought up Madison and specifically JMU as the next that needs to change. He was a real true believer.

Most advancements in this country were made by racists. In that context we should burn the Smithsonian to the ground.

I don't know if that's the same plan (in your original post) that is referenced here:
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/sep/1/washington-monument-jefferson-memorial-removal-pla/
The White House slammed Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser on Tuesday night for a “ludicrous” plan to remove, relocate or “contextualize” the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial and other monuments in the nation’s capital.
“By publishing a plan that recommends potentially removing the Washington Monument, Christopher Columbus Statue, Andrew Jackson Statue, and Jefferson Memorial — among many other ludicrous recommendations — the radically liberal mayor of Washington, D.C., is repeating the same left-wing narrative used to incite dangerous riots: demolishing our history and destroying our great heritage,” said White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.
She said “as long as President Trump is in the White House, the mayor’s irresponsible recommendations will go absolutely nowhere, and as the mayor of our Nation’s capital city — a city that belongs to the American people — she ought to be ashamed for even suggesting them for consideration.”ETA: Yes, apparently it is:

Unbelievable. I have a friend named David who says these things about changing names. I'm like, dude, you are literally named after a slave owner (in the Bible, King David had slaves).

You can't win that way, though. It's so obviously not about anything reasonable. Only way to win is not to play.

You know it’s just a matter of time, right? Give it 20 years and all of these memorials will be gone, including Washington.
