Bike peeps - noob q
-
Saw Jon's thread, realized I had a q too. I'm thinking of getting a bike to go to work, but I'd have a pretty hilly commute (it's all urban bike lanes though). Rains a fair bit where I live too.
Any idea what sort of bikes I should consider? I don't want an e-bike. I'm willing to go beyond entry-level bikes, but don't want to go overboard without knowing what sort of gear I'd like.
Any obvious choices to consider?

You're gonna have days that are "fuck no," some that are "meh" and some that are "fuck yeah". To have maximum number of days in the saddle per year, you've got to convert those "mehs" to ride days.
So, make sure what you decide is (1) fun and (2) convenient as hell. Both are crazy rabbit holes to go down.

I don't have one right now. Interestingly it's all downhill to work. The one gnarly hill is right before my house - about a one mile steady climb.
My 2 reasons for biking are -1) just getting outside. It's a nice route to work, mostly lakeside. 2) Get exercise time in consistently (I've been doing a lot of stationary spin exercises classes on peloton for years - so i should be able to bike well enough)
