Paywalled, so I can't read about what she did. Anyway, you two seem really sad about this. I am sad in sympathy with your sadness.

@Horace said in The latest life destroyed by Trump’s fragile ego:

    Paywalled,

Tina Peters, the former clerk of Mesa County, Colo., was sentenced on Thursday to nine years in prison after being found guilty in August of tampering with voting machines under her control in a failed attempt to prove that they had been used to rig the 2020 election against former President Donald J. Trump.

At a hearing in Grand Junction, Colo., Judge Matthew D. Barrett scolded Ms. Peters sternly from the bench, telling her he had imposed the severe penalty because she had repeatedly advanced false claims about Mr. Trump’s defeat and in so doing become a celebrity among those who denied that he lost the race.

“But you are no hero, you abused your position and you are a charlatan,” Judge Barrett said, adding, “You cannot help but lie as easy as you breathe.”

The sentence was the first to be handed down against a local election official found liable for security breaches of voting machines made by Dominion Voting Systems. After Mr. Trump’s defeat to Joseph R. Biden Jr., pro-Trump activists across the country sought to gain access to Dominion machines, hoping to prove they had been used in a plot to flip votes from Mr. Trump to Mr. Biden.
But all of those efforts failed, and local officials in many cases opened investigations like the one into Ms. Peters.

Before Judge Barrett imposed her sentence, Ms. Peters apologized for the seven criminal charges that a jury found her guilty of but also sought to press her case that Dominion’s machines had been used to cheat Mr. Trump out of a victory.

She then went on a muddled tangent about how the district attorney who had filed the charges against her was somehow implicated in a plot to get her ailing husband to divorce her before Judge Barrett, in a burst of annoyance, cut her off.

“I’m convinced you would do it again if you could,” Judge Barrett told her at one point. “You’re as defiant a defendant as I’ve ever seen.”

At trial, Ms. Peters was convicted of helping an outsider — Conan Hayes, a former professional surfer turned technology wizard — to gain unauthorized access to one of Mesa County’s Dominion machines in May 2021.

So she illegally used her power to investigate potential fraud. And is paying a legal price similar to if she used her power to actually commit voter fraud. Well, the law is the law, and judges have sentencing discretion.

“It’s just more lies. No objective person believes them. No — at the end of the day, you cared about the jets, the podcasts and people flying with you,” [the judge]said

If she had an enhanced socioeconomic lifestyle due to her participation in all this, then I am not too concerned by this punishment.

      Education is extremely important.

Ok, ok, all right. I'm an old guy, maybe my tastes have matured a bit, there's something there. (In my humble opinion.)

She's younger than 85% of the guys on TNCR!

(Ok, I looked her up and--maybe not, but it looks like she keeps herself in good shape! Thats a plus--and yes, Trump would hit her.)

Doesn’t sound like she’s feeling destroyed, personally.

Not today. Wait a few months after she replaces the jets and podcast appearances with group showers, open shitters, and an 8x8 cell.

That'll make you so sad. I guess it's the price you pay for being so empathetic. A good person, tragically destroyed by Trump.

If I zoom out far enough, the whole situation is sad for them, sad for the country.

When you hear them in court, I become very sanguine about their suffering. It’s find out time.

Odd definition of troll as ‘guy that won’t follow-on research that I request.’

I don’t know how far the my pillow guy got. Maybe the whole scheme was discovered before they could do anything with the data or even abscond with it. Wouldn’t matter for her. She did what she did.

                                    From another article

Peters ran for Colorado secretary of state in 2022 after she was indicted. She was defeated in the Republican primary and alleged election fraud in that race, demanding a recount after losing by 85,000 votes. The recount resulted in her getting an additional 13 votes — as did the overall primary winner, Pam Anderson.

                                    Another LOL

I asked you to back up your claim that she was abetting attempts at fraud. Which you can't.

You’re right. My bad. Mike Lindell was the consummate truth seeker just trying to do right by the American people.

She did the right thing forging a badge to let his guy in, after disabling the cameras for him first. I mean, how else are you going to investigate fraud? Well, I mean, assuming Giuliani and Sydney Powell were unavailable.

She's younger than 85% of the guys on TNCR!

(Ok, I looked her up and--maybe not, but it looks like she keeps herself in good shape! Thats a plus--and yes, Trump would hit her.)

She’s either 68 or 69. In 9 years time, assuming she lives that long, she’ll be the same age as Don-Old. No way you’d hit that.

These fucking people, but hey, I'm sure there are democrats even more crooked and than her and Lindell, so that makes it OK.

And let's not forget, Mike Lindell made a ton of money before he lost even more money, so he can't be incredibly fucking stupid, however much he appears to be.

                                          I was only joking
