For those of you in the know, I’ve lost contact with a person riding cross country (on the back of a Harley) who was attending and camping for NASCAR in Bristol, TN. I think the event was supposed to be on the weekend. Do any of you think she encountered bad flooding? Her route was supposed to take her through MN on the way back.

This weekend.
Are you sure? A reverse image search shows that photo in a NYT article dated 9/2/2024.

Fair enough about the picture.
He was, however at his beach house. Maybe the weather prevented basking.
Biden, who spent much of the weekend at his beach house in Delaware, has received frequent updates on the storm from FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell, homeland security adviser Liz Sherwood-Randall and other officials.
Hopefully his earpiece was plugged into his phone.

Not sure. That area did get a ton of rain as well, so there could be power and communication issues abound.
We were scheduled to stay in a beachfront house in Clearwater (Redington Beach), Florida in a month. Haven't heard but I think they got about a 6' storm surge so I'd imagine the house is a no-go. Most restaurants in the area are closed as they clean and rebuild.
Gotta love youtube. Even though lots of folks can't get back to the barrier island, someone posted a video driving through the area so you can see buildings/homes for yourself if you need info:

I’m in Charlotte this week and there’s absolutely no sign of it here in the downtown area, although the coverage from the local TV stations is really horrendous

Asheville seemed to have gotten it the worst. Quite frankly, I think most of it is due to the mountains. They channel water into more narrow and violent runoffs.

I was wondering about Larry’s family in all of this. They would have been in the hardest hit area.

Interesting, learn something new every day... nothing matches the purity of Spruce Pine quartz.
