    @Mik

There may be something to this study….

Our 17 year old has zero interest or curiosity about booze or even the weed. His friends appear to be the same way. He will turn 18 in February and be of legal age to purchase any alcohol or cannabis in the many outlets available. All he’s indicated is that he “might” want to try a can of Guinness Draught with me.

    Elbows up!

Same here. My son has turned 16 a couple of months ago, which means it is now legal to buy and consumer beer and wine, but he has no interest in doing this.

I was drunk on a regular basis when I was his age.

        I've also noticed this trend

My son (23) likes making occasional cocktails as a kind of a science experiment, but he doesn't drink beer or wine. He gets slightly tipsy maybe once every couple of months.

My daughter had an unexpectedly large cocktail at a party during her first couple of weeks at college in 2023 and hasn't touched alcohol since 😆

        I was only joking

My daughter likes the occasional cocktail at a restaurant, but really doesn't drink regularly at all. I guess they are smarter than us after all.

I remember watching Deadwood and thinking - how tf did they drink so much all the time. Our generation might look similar to the next one?

I still remember getting a school workbook back from my 3 year old son's kindergarten. They'd asked him to describe his dad, and when asked what my favourite drinks were, he'd responded with 'Wine and beer'.

              I was only joking

I barely drank as a teen or twenties. Weed was much kewler than alcohol at the time. I tnink it was only in my forties I started to take wine more seriously, and now my most common drink is a beer with dinner, maybe twice a week. Firday nite dinner always has a bottle of wine. I guess that’s it for me. I have a number of unopened expensive whiskeys received as gifts from patients. But they stay mostly unopened.

There was a bar on Route 7 called the Pawn Shop, at one time my 5 roommates and I had a streak going for 7 months. At least 2 of us were in that bar every night.

We were in there drinking all the time, and we weren't alone. We were probably 25-26 years old.

North Asia is still like this, especially a place like Korea. Seems like it is either 0% drinking or drinking to unconscious. LOL

DUI was ok back then, or at least more tolerated

Some day we'll wonder how we ever let people drive with cell phones turned on

You failed to mention you lived in a 1-bedroom apartment. I don't blame the other guys for going to the bar and drinking at night.

It was a 5-bedroom house in an "Embassy" neighborhood in McLean. It had a swimming pool that was great for toga parties.

The neighbors were polite, but they didn't miss us when we left.
