@Jolly said in Musk to head task force...:

I don't care if they fight a duel on Pennsylvania Avenue, if we can trim the federal government.

Given Trump’s track record, most likely he will increase federal government spending and the national debt bigly, if re-elected.
There is even chance that he bankrupts the government.

Since when did Joe Scarborough start posting under your moniker?

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

It's my understanding that the federal government already fits the definition of bankrupt, unless the ability to print money gets around that definition.

      Education is extremely important.

In all fairness to Ax, the deficit was falling under Obama and started going back up again under Trump, COVID not withstanding.

Another government department created to increase government efficiency.

          Sir Humphry would approve.

LOL, exactly what I was thinking… The party of small government wants to make a new department…

But, I’ve always thought that an efficiency expert as a private contractor could come in and cut a ton of waste.

Did the number of federal employees decrease under President Trump the first time? I believe that there was a general trend upward.

Elon seems to be a fire-first and deal with problems later sort of guy. Not sure if you're legally allowed to do that in the government.

Yeah in IT, as you probably know, we call that the scream test. Take a feature away and see who screams. LOL

The effects on the city and surrounding area notwithstanding, that thrives off the government teet..., Elon (or whomever) could massively cut the government size. There's a ton of bloat in every corner (including departments, military, executive, legislative, and judicial branches...) but really the costs folks SHOULD be more concerned with are: the national debt, medicare, and looming social security crisis.

I don't think they're part of the Federal government, but certainly worth looking at as we trim the budget.
