I’ve a sneaking suspicion that it wasn’t the first time he was rear-ended.

Of course. He’s a VP candidate in a campaign motorcade.

Speaking of making shit up. He didn't say the quote you... made up. LOL

Also, he was there in August 1989 (not May), two months after the June massacre which makes sense since he spoke of the massacre in the video clip above in the past tense, "people were very angry we would still go after what happened".

So yes he did go, yes he went after the massacre (which is what he implies) and yes he said May instead of August.

What's remarkable is the Bullshit Meter you're trying to apply to this guy, parsing out a single word in a video from 10 years ago, about an event 35 years ago, which doesn't track given the rest of his statement.... vs Trump who told over 30,000 lies in 4 years and just yesterday was lying about how the President never called the Georgia Governor about Hurricane Helene help, even though the Governor said the complete opposite.

He said "I was in Hong Kong in May of 1989."

                      0:08

35 years ago? It was seared, seared into his memory. This was not an error or a slip of the tongue. He placed himself there when, in fact, he was there months later.

And yeah my "quote" is an interpretation of what he said. If you want to get particular about what someone actually said vs their intent, that's fine. His point was that he was close to the massacre in May of 1989 - and he wasn't.

As to Trump, feel free to start a "Trump lied" thread.

Not sure this server has the bandwidth to handle 28 lies per day (Trump's average).

He didn't say he was close to the massacre. He said he was in Hong Kong and people were surprised he was there AFTER WHAT HAD HAPPENED, thereby he implied he was there after the massacre (June 1989), so it would make no sense for him to lie about May if he was referring to an observation post-massacre.

It's just hilarious you all ignore 20 clear lies per day from one guy, but analyze the inference of something another guy said 10 years ago that he self-corrected in the 2nd half of his sentence. He said May, he implied July/August (August being accurate). Trump says something like "the President hasn't called the governor of Georgia" which is a pure lie... but it's ok because his mean tweets are part of his charm.

Well. Since we know that Trump’s 20 lies a day are really 4 lies a day that he repeats 5 times… The numbers get my a little closer. And I’d rather have the guy that lies over his status or wealth than the guy that says quite honestly to him that socialism is just being neighborly…

Face it, it’s last call and the options are going home with Aqua’s sister, who put on about 250 and smells a little like ham that’s been sitting out for 4 hours, or being taken home by Bubba, who is 350 pounds, has just got back from 5 years in solitary confinement, and is all out of lube.

LOL the last part made me chuckle.

Walz isn't my FIL, nor am I a fan of his policies. I'm just flabbergasted with the dissection of a statement he makes 10 years ago to find something that is technically untrue. It's like criticizing someone who tried pot once in college while voting for El Chapo to set an example for the kids.

. It's like criticizing someone who tried pot once in college while voting for El Chapo to set an example for the kids.

                                        No, it's more like this.

"I was in New Jersey when Al-Qaeda attacked the United States. A lot of people were really upset...

                                        oops...

I mean, I was in New Jersey in December."

No, a more accurate comparison to what Walz said (which was he was in Hong Kong in May and people were upset he went after the massacre), would be:

"I was in New York in August 2001, and people were upset I was there to teach after those twin towers fell."

Which is the important point. The month, or the point that he went despite the tragedy that had happened?

                                          Give it up, dude.

                                          Walz screwed the pooch.
