    So...why did he drop out?

Because his handlers he knew he wouldn't win?

Because his handlers he knew he couldn't handle the job - too old, too sick?

In his written note on X, he doesn't give a reason why he's withdrawing from the race.

Perhaps we'll know more later this week?

That note was written for him.

          Things I imagine happened...

          1. You get to leave with your reputation intact. Since it's evident you're going to lose, a lot of people are going to use a lot of shovels to dig up all the side hustles you've been doing for years, Big Guy.
          2. Everybody needs money. We have arranged for certain business deals that will keep you and Jill well funded for the rest of your days.
          3. The Party will personally see to your library and your legacy. Hell, we made Truman look good and he left the Whitehouse with a 22 approval rating.
          4. You want to pardon Hunter? Here's how we do this with minimal political fallout...
          5. If you don't leave and drag the down-ticket into the abyss with you? Well, Joe, we promise you'll be broke, laughed at and what little reputation you have, utterly destroyed.

Do it for the party. Do it for yourself. Do it for America.

          But, dammit, just do it!

If his health is that bad, it is Kamala's DUTY to try to invoke the 25th.

Secondly, if The Residents health is that bad, why has Kamala lied and covered for him?

BTW, it's rumored Biden did not write his resignation letter for the nomination nor did he sign it....

Having just read Doris Kearns Goodwin's book, it would be highly unusual for the President to write such a letter.

I am not much of a conspiracy person, and I am not one for this subject.

I think him dropping out was a combination of him realizing his health is not that good (maybe somebody showing him videos of himself during the 2020 campaign and seeing the big difference between then and now) and pressure from outside talking about his support is dropping, etc.

Having said that, there is no reason to say he cannot finish his term. It is very likely that he (and others) realizes that he cannot handle 4 years, but 6 months is doable.

Think of an athlete. They want a new 4 year contract, but the team think his performance will decrease so only offers a one year contract.

Nah, that’s not news. There is nothing of significance in having the delegates state they will support the only candidate in the race. They can vote the other way tomorrow. Let’s wait 10 days, see what the polls are like, see if anyone challenges her, and see if they decide to have the roll call vote. This isn’t over, yet.
