Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

That's great. I did know that some of the Old West figures hung around Hollywood.

          Shame about avoiding war service.

You need to check your facts. He didn't "avoid" war service.

He was exempted out of service because of his age and his family status, the same as thousand upon thousands of other men at the time. What is it with your need to smear every fucking man who is a conservative, Mr. "I'm a centrist"?

Honestly I have nothing against him. I liked him in his roles. I really do think it’s a shame, it left a bit of a mark in him and I’ll bet he regretted it in hindsight.

                    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Wayne#Stagecoach_and_the_war_years

Wayne was exempted from service due to his age (34 at the time of Pearl Harbor) and family status (classified as 3-A – family deferment). Wayne repeatedly wrote to John Ford saying he wanted to enlist, on one occasion inquiring whether he could get into Ford's military unit, but consistently kept postponing it until after "he finished just one or two pictures".[36] Wayne did not attempt to prevent his reclassification as 1-A (draft eligible), but Republic Studios was emphatically resistant to losing him since he was their only A-list actor under contract. Herbert J. Yates, President of Republic, threatened Wayne with a lawsuit if he walked away from his contract, and Republic Pictures intervened in the Selective Service process, requesting Wayne's further deferment.

U.S. National Archives records indicate that Wayne, in fact, did make an application to serve in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), precursor to the modern CIA, and had been accepted within the U.S. Army's allotted billet to the OSS. William J. Donovan, OSS Commander, wrote Wayne a letter informing him of his acceptance into the Field Photographic Unit, but the letter went to his estranged wife Josephine's home. She never told him about it. Wayne toured U.S. bases and hospitals in the South Pacific for three months in 1943 and 1944.[40] with the USO. During this trip, he carried out a request from Donovan to assess whether General Douglas MacArthur, commander of the South West Pacific Area, or his staff were hindering the work of the OSS.[20]:88 Donovan later issued Wayne an OSS Certificate of Service to memorialize Wayne's contribution to the OSS mission.

By many accounts, his failure to serve in the military later became the most painful part of his life. His widow later suggested that his patriotism in later decades sprang from guilt, writing: "He would become a 'superpatriot' for the rest of his life trying to atone for staying home."

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I didn’t say he dodged the draft, I said he avoided service.

You can parse it however you want. Either way, it's still a fucking lie. And you well know it.

Never served. In fact, never had to register, since I fall in the gap years. Wasn't looking forward to it, since guys just a few years older than me were enjoying their 13-month vacations in sunny Southeast Asia.

Now, does that make me a pussy?

Telling jon not to gaslight people is like telling Ax not to soar high above the Serengeti with a golden trophy strapped to his back, hunting for plump, juicy bunnies. Some people are just born to do certain things.
