        That trope has been around a long time - no real evidence. But it is amazing that he met a guy who needed a place to live - and shared a bed (not just a room) with him for more than a year. It was another time - and the world was different back then.

            I’ll give you his predecessor.

            In Abe’s case this has always been gay wishcasting, based on the fact that circuit lawyers (and other travelers) shared beds with other guests. A mere fact of life of 19th century America.

                Not so much guys, but not uncommon in Taiwan to share a bed with a girlfriend, even as adults.
