@Jolly that’s a hard one. Saw a lot of beauty.
For me the big surprise was Iowa. Really gorgeous. Not drama. Just endless rolling fields.
But I still like the north east. New England.

Probably a little more to do in New England than Iowa.

Clearly a man of rare taste. Rhode Island: Gateway to America.
Incidentally, Mrs. Phibes has a friend she likes to visit in Iowa. She loves going there, both for the environment and the pace of life. Apparently, they're even friendlier than people from Massachusetts if such a thing is possible.

The California Zephyr leaves San Francisco, goes through Denver on its way to Chicago.
When D4 and I rode, the guy at the station gave the "What to watch out for on your trip" speech. He then said, "When you leave Denver in the late afternoon, just pull the curtain. THere's nothing to see until you get to Chicago."

Didn’t do Kansas. But, went north from Colorado into western Nebraska to Scott’s bluff and it was quite pleasant. Yes very prairie , but has the proverbial big sky, herds of cattle, very cowboy in the classic sense.
Eastern Nebraska towards Omaha was boring. But didn’t stay there long

The southwest deserts including Nevada are spectacular. Not boring at all.
