    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/4720506-senate-republicans-block-ivf-legislation/damp/

Legislation to establish a national right to in vitro fertilization (IVF) was blocked by Senate Republicans on Thursday, ...

... right after the Southern Baptists voted to oppose IVF.

Anti-abortion aside, the Southern Baptists and the Republicans are now also anti-IVF. :man-shrugging:

@Axtremus said in Senate GOP blocks IVF access protection bill:

Southern Baptists and the Republicans are now also anti-IVF.

      So are Sunni Muslims.

Actually, to your point, are Republicans against IVF or are they opposed to defining a new "right?"

I suppose I can revise the sentence to say "Southern Baptists and the Republicans, just like Sunni Muslims, are now also anti-IVF." :man-shrugging:

            See my second comment.

If you want an accurate revision..."Senate Republicans vote down creation of a new 'right.'"

Disclaimer, I haven't read the link, only the headline you quoted which mentions "right."

But, that said, it's a stupid move politically.

Is it a 'new right', though?

The 10th Amendment says "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Since IVF was not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, and not withheld from the states, supposedly it's an 'existing right' that has been reserved to the people all along. Rather than creating a 'new right,' the bill blocked by Senate GOP merely wants to codify an 'existing right' that the people already have to prevent the States (or some other jurisdiction) from taking it away from the the people.
