    One person's opinion:

    Not as slick, not as flashy, but 963 videos...

    “Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

    Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

      The World at War gets my vote, too. I remember watching it every Sunday evening back in the 80's when they replayed on ITV. Laurence Olivier's somber narration is something else, as are many of the interviews, from your humble private all the way up to Albert Speer and Mountbatten.

      I was only joking

        @Doctor-Phibes

        I agree World at War remains the benchmark English language documentary of WWII, particularly the war on the western front. The interviews with the players involved are intriguing. The interview with Nazi Major Otto Remer was blood curdling. The interview personified the banality of evil that made him an unrepentant Nazi fanatic until the day he died in 1997.

        Soviet Storm is pretty good as well in its detailing the of the war on the Eastern Front. As well, the old joint Soviet/American documentary from the mid 1970s, The Unknown War, is also very much worth watching despite the Soviet propaganda that periodically detracts from the topical narratives (Burt Lancaster is the narrator) . Again, valuable interviews with then living witnesses and participants in the war including Marshal Chuikov (Stalingrad, Berlin ), Air Marshal Alexander Pokryshkin and even Leonid Brezhnev (Novorossiysk) are among the interviewees telling their stories.

        Elbows up!

          Good list, I now have many more series on my very long list of "things to watch".

                  Indeed. Very well done. I believe the guy who played Hitler (Bruno Ganz?) has passed away.

                  That would make a great "Hitler finds out..." parody.

                  The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
