“SUV” is a silly concept anyway, just a bigger car with bigger wheels and higher base.

A new hybrid SUV today is often more fuel-efficient than a conventional sedan from five years ago. More demanding fuel-efficiency standard is to going to eliminate “SUV” as category.

You ask as if “true SUV” exists like “true American” or “true Christian.”
Crossover, mini, compact, mid-size, full-size, extended length, coupe … many types/categories of “SUV” out there.

Typically, an SUV is a vehicle designed to be driven off-road that is primarily used to drive overweight people around the suburbs.
There's a reason they last so long.

Car makers will adapt, probably with improved battery technology, etc.. As @Doctor-Phibes says, most people do not need an SUV. I think they are relatively (recent) invention.

I agree. I dont want the goverment telling me that either, but I think my statement is still true. Most people do not need an SUV. They may "want" one, but they really dont "need" one.
