Scottie Scheffler booked into Kentucky jail before PGA Championship after incident
Scheffler was hit with charges over the incident
Scottie Scheffler ended Thursday within striking distance of the lead in hopes of winning the first PGA Championship of his career, but Friday got off to a rough start.
Scheffler was arrested and charged after he allegedly failed to follow police orders as he was about to enter Valhalla Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky, for the second round of the tournament.
ESPN reported that Scheffler drove past a police officer in his SUV with markings on the door indicating it was a PGA Championship vehicle. The officer screamed at him to stop and then attached himself to the car until Scheffler stopped his vehicle about 10 yards later. ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington characterized it as a "misunderstanding with traffic flow" as authorities were investigating a traffic fatality earlier in the morning.
"Scheffler was then walked over to the police car, placed in the back, in handcuffs, very stunned about what was happening, looked toward me as he was in those handcuffs and said, ‘Please help me,’" Darlington said on ESPN’s "SportsCenter." "He very clearly did not know what was happening in the situation. It moved very quickly, very rapidly, very aggressively."

As we have discussed here in other forum threads, usually a good idea to follow police orders and then worry about getting things sorted out later.

No, but his car was, so I guess that counts. LOL

“Don’t you know who I am” coupled with “You can’t tell me what to do” are not how you are to respond to a police officer when he or she stops you or directs you to stop.
I have really don’t have much sympathy for this Scheffler guy under the circumstances. Until this thread I hadn’t even heard of him. He must be
impotentimportant. -

Did that happen?
Scheffler said it did not.
I haven't heard anyone say it did.

Well, you heard it now didn’t you?
Do you think I care if you hadn’t heard anyone say it?
If you do, l can tell you right now that you would be unambiguously wrong.

Charges against Scottie Scheffler in PGA Championship arrest dismissed
Scheffler was facing 4 charges, including felony assaultThe charges against 10-time PGA Tour winner Scottie Scheffler were dismissed on Wednesday, nearly two weeks after he was arrested just before the second round of the PGA Championship in Kentucky.
Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell addressed the court and filed a motion to have all charges against the two-time major winner dismissed after finding in the prosecutor’s investigation that the evidence corroborated Scheffler's claim that it was all a "misunderstanding."

I wonder if Schleffler sues for the "misunderstanding."
He said no, he just wants to move on and play golf, which is a smart move.

But, yeah. Good move.

Me neither. I'd rather watch dog turds harden in slow-motion than televised golf.

Well, no.
There are times when you need a good soporific. Televised golf is second to none - with baseball being a moderately close.

Don’t blame you… but make no mistake he has dominated golf for the last two years. Incredibly nice guy, wears his faith on his sleeve, just had his first kid….
