You own a home now. I’ve been to it.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

OK - I should have said "house."

D3 is thinking about buying a house. A simple house with a fenced yard for the dog. She's 38 and single, with a cat and a 1-year old dog.

I keep telling her that it's stupid, now.

            • Mortgage rates are high
            • She gotta maintain
            • Things break.
            • Lawn
            • Snow

I'm saying the best option is to either continue renting, or get a end-unit townhome with an HOA.

The type of house she probably can afford, in an area where she would like to live, comes with it's own list of soon to be needed repairs...

                Nah.

When it comes to following a set of plans for furniture, I'm OK.

When it comes to electrical, structural, plumbing...I have no clue.

                None.

If you can build furniture, you can frame, sheetrock and do tile work. With flexible connectors and plastic pipe, a lot of plumbing (replacing faucets, changing out sinks and commodes) got a lot easier.

                  Electrical? That can get complicated.

I’ll do electrical before I do plumbing again, and I don’t do electrical.

Agree with you. Whether she does is another matter. Owning a home is great, of course.... but my wife and I were talking the other day (as we watched a friend, who is single) buy a home and we said... if we were single without kids, we would absolutely either buy/rent a townhouse or condo.

That being said, I enjoy projects and yardwork (for the most part), heck I just picked up a 2100 PSI pressure washer I'm going to try out soon on a few outdoor areas that could use a cleanup.
