Well he had a point but I don't think it applies here. 😄

Stuff happens with dogs and I’m no absolutist that bad dogs have bad owners. Back when he was in China, my wife’s dog killed some chickens after wrenching his leash from her grip. He’s also bitten her when she’s gotten overconfident about her ability to grab something from him. She took him to dog school when he was young and has always treated him dotingly. But Malamutes are not always the most civilized dogs.

      Education is extremely important.

On my part I just don’t get what point she is trying to make by telling the story in the first place.

I mean, yeah, that's what I find fascinating, too. She actually thought this was not only an example of good character, but so good she'd put it in a book to boast about herself. But, like I said: politician.

What’s even more nuts is that she feels the need to explain herself in addition to promoting her book.

She hated the dog. She took the untrained/excitable dog hunting - threw it into a overstimulating situation with a bunch of other dogs and birds - in a shock collar - and it “wrecked” the hunt. She stopped at the neighbors the same day, somehow the dog got out of the truck (hard to “escape” a truck without help from an human) and it killed some chickens. She was likely mad and embarrassed and so then she goes home the very same day and shoots the dog. And also shoots the farm goat? She’s got some pretty big issues. And she has no fucking business owning animals. Not all animals are suitable for the jobs we think they are bred to do. Especially if you do a shit job of training/preparing them. That doesn’t mean you get to shoot them when they act like the animals they are. It’s not a dog’s fault when it kills livestock. That is all on the owner. It’s absolutely the responsibility of a dog owner make sure that the dog doesn’t get into a situation where it can kill livestock. If your dog can’t behave off leash, then keep it on a damned leash. I totally get that sometimes the most humane way to deal with a “dangerous” (domesticated) animal is euthanasia (sadly most of those have been messed up by humans due to poor training, neglect or abuse, and they react aggressively out of fear, and are just trying to survive the only way they know how) but I just don’t see how that is the case here. This was a young dog that likely could have lived a good life with a different owner. She really sucks. I hope she never lives this down.

Where in Montana? I have lost family there on my mother’s side. Her mother was born in a little town - then in 1885, an Irish settlement - called Laurin just outside Virginia City. It is now a ghost town, although the big brick RC Church still appeared to be working when I visited there in about 2005. Like going back in time.

@Renauda We are in Butte. Been here since 2018. That whole valley from Twin Bridges to Virginia City is really beautiful. So many cool old buildings in this part of the world that are still standing because it’s so dry here. Butte has a huge Irish population. Copper mining history (and they are still surface mining here) - an incredible amount of $$$ still comes out of the ground every day. Also, the largest superfund site in the US…

Yes I know Butte. Stopped there as well in 2005 to meet and spend a few hours with the resident USEPA super fund administrator. Got the low down on the “Butte Pit” and other facts and issues surrounding the mine and its tailings.

Virginia City and the surrounding area is really something. You would have to drive past Laurin to get to Virginia City. Anyhow that’s where my grandmother was born around 1885 (she was never sure herself but she figured she was two years younger than her older sister who was born in 1883).

'I'm Sorry I Have To Do This,' Says Kristi Noem Pumping Shotgun After Puppy Playfully Barks At Mailman

PIERRE, SD — After Governor Kristi Noem caught her puppy playfully barking at the mailman today, she broke out her 12-gauge shotgun and apologized for what was about to happen.

"I'm sorry it's come to this, Max," said Noem, loading two shells in the magazine. "But you did bark at the mailman, after I specifically asked you not to. Don't worry, I'll make it fast."

According to sources, Governor Noem had only last week blown away her last puppy with an AR-15 after she caught him digging in the garden. "These dogs are just so hard to train," said Noem, cleaning her rifle. "It's a shame you have to annihilate a few puppies with high-grade weaponry, but hey - that's just life on a farm!"Governor Noem reportedly led her puppy Max down to the infamous gravel pit where she prefers to perform her executions. "Stop dragging your paws, Max. Ugh, you are just the worst," said Noem as they walked into the puppy graveyard. "Four dozen puppies, and I still haven't found one that can be trained. Oh, well. Get ready for doggie heaven, Max."

At publishing time, Democrats had condemned Noem for killing puppies when they aren't even Jewish.
