Walking to the Airport

Walk through the protest and hand out MAGA hats and see what happens…

I think an hour of incarceration for every person's hour you wasted would be pretty fair, although there could be an argument made for a day rather than an hour. So let's say on a Chicago freeway you held up 24,000 people for an hour. That would be 1,000 days in jail. Seems proportionate.
-
yeah, but you still have to do something to get them out. I'm thinking wood shampoos would be better. Any time you think your political ax to grind supercedes your fellow citizens' right to pass unimpeded you have a whacking coming.

I truly do not understand how the cops (such as in the first video) are just parked there watching them. They should be immediately arrested for <whatever> on a public roadway.
-
It's simple...Treat them like the Jan 6 rioters (who most had much less effect on people's lives than these people).

Just a guess - Chicago Police have no jurisdiction on interstate roads. That's state police.

Similar has happened elsewhere.

I dont understand how something like this would make me more sympathetic to their reason for protesting?

Perhaps you could ask the "No Oil" art defacers for some insight?

I’ve explained it. They are proving something to themselves. That they are willing to sacrifice for their ideals, to be on the right side of history. The point is to demonstrate something about themselves to themselves, and maybe to the social group they care about. The point is not to affect change.
The interesting question is, for these people intent on demonstrating their virtue, how much are they actually willing to sacrifice? Not much, would be my guess. My other guess is that their plan is actually to increase their social status within the group they care about.
