D3 is looking at buying a house in a subdivision that has a HOA.

    What does the "insurance" cover?

    Siding? Roofing?

      Just a guess

It covers none of your personal property including your house.

It is probably insurance that covers the HOA from liability, maybe for property too.

Just a guess, based on the fact that our HOA has no insurance for any of the owner's personal property.

On the other hand they do include lawn care and exterior maintenance. So maybe it does include some of the owner's property in case of damage by the HOA maintenance guys.

        Still just a guess.

An HOA is like a condo in that you do have a partial ownership of the community property. The insurance covers you from liability over that and protects any common improvements like clubhouse or pool just like your homeowners does.

And like ours, it doesn't appear to cover the lawyer's fee when you but a lien on some guy's house because he used the wrong kind of mailbox.

Our HOA has insurance. Looks like it covers damage to HOA property (pools, playgrounds, gardens, etc) employee dishonesty, officers liability, equipment breakdown, etc.
