Thanks 89th! It's just fun. I don't consider it work. Nobody pays me for it.

Total eclipses are seen every 18 months on some part of the globe.

          https://www.space.com/25644-total-solar-eclipses-frequency-explained.html

How is it then that only when eclipses are to be seen somewhere in North America that the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse hearld the event? Ridiculous superstition still governs the minds of many.

Yes because standing outside wearing tin foil glasses and holding colanders up to sunlight is, like, not at all weird.

            Very cool @mark

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

I took 271 photos of it today from my back patio.

89.1% Partial Eclipse. Decided to stay home this time.
Canon 50D on a fixed tripod w/18-200mm Zoom at 200mm f5.6 1/1600 sec exposures, ISO 100. Baader Planitarium Solar Film Filter.

271 photos aligned, registered and output to avi movie format using PIPP (Planetary Imaging Pre-Processor)
It's not perfect, but it's still pretty cool.

I think the US congress might be mostly made up of gases.
