It’s based on a very kitschy video game series that was a little fun in the mixing of genres. Go back to the 50’s. Not the real 50’s but the movie trope 50’s… Hoola hoops, poodle skirts, Leave it to Beaver type of 50’s. Mix in the beginnings of the bomb shelter craze… Create a huge and very expensive community bomb shelter network run by a kind of Disneyesque company. Nuclear war hits, all the rich people go into their shelters, and live X number of years in a very 1950’s manner.

They come out of the shelter decades later and have to survive in a world of mutants, warlords, robots gone wild, and more. The games are kind of fun, but I always lost interest 1/3 of the way through…

Like I said, I generally liked the games… Just kinda faded out on completing them. Something else pops up and such… I might try to go back to the last one and try again.

The show is getting some great reviews - it also dropped a day early.

I'm going to watch some of it over the weekend, I think. I'm looking forward to revisiting the world.

I watched the first episode tonight. I liked it - it's a pretty good recreation of the game world. Very dark humour.

If you haven't played the games it might not be as fun, but I really enjoyed it.

I've never played the game, so it's all new to me.

But, as a standalone, not bad.

Several episodes in...not bad. Not great, but not bad. It's a nice way to spend an hour or two in the afternoon.

When I first started watching, Karla came in 10 minutes into the show and watched with me. Now it’s a show for us to watch together… Do you know how often our schedules match up to watch a show together?

I feel ya. My wife wanted to watch Breaking Bad with me many years ago (10 years ago?) but eventually I just binged it at night and on airplanes. We watch other shows together but with 3 kids under 6 we usually watch like 30 minutes of Amazing Race, or 60 Minutes, or Accused, or CBS Sunday Morning... but by then one kid is normally up (the 1 year old) so the chances of watching a full show together at night is not feasible. One day!

I agree, I'm enjoying it a lot. I actually went out and bought Fallout 3 for $5 so that I can play it again on the PC. I completely forgot that it had Liam Neeson in it.
