They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

So, how would this story read if the franchisee were different?

Ohio Wendy's owner allegedly drove 400 miles for sex with minor he met online

Stacy Lee Austin, 49, is accused of traveling more than 400 miles to meet a teen for sex.

An Ohio Wendy's owner was arrested after authorities say he traveled 400 miles to North Carolina and sexually abused a 15-year-old he met online.

Stacy Lee Austin, 49, of Belmont reportedly broke into the family's home in Salisbury, North Carolina, and allegedly molested the minor, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.

Police said that Austin had made contact with the juvenile on social media and arranged to pick them up in the Tar Heel State for sex.

Belmont is a small village about 110 miles east of Columbus, Ohio. Salisbury is approximately 416 miles to the south, located about 25 miles northeast of Charlotte, North Carolina.

On March 5, deputies responded to a 911 call from the teen's father about a burglary in progress at a home in the southern part of Rowan County.

Upon arrival, according to the sheriff's office, the caller told deputies he had come home and found Austin inside with his teenage child.

Deputies searched the home and found Austin's underwear in the trashcan of a bathroom, along with some of the juvenile's clothing, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators say that while the suspect was in the home, he performed sexual activities with the minor.

Austin is the owner and operator of a Wendy's restaurant in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

"When questioned about the incident, Austin admitted to the sexual acts and was concerned about losing his job as owner of a Wendy's in Ohio," authorities said in a news release.

Austin was charged with statutory sex offense with a child and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center, the sheriff's office said. He is being held without bond.

Austin was subsequently charged with Felony Solicit Child By Computer, according to online records. He is due in court on June 5.

Solicitation of a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act is a Class G felony in North Carolina if the defendant actually appears at the meeting location. The crime carries a maximum sentence of 47 months in prison.

Austin has been a Wendy's franchise owner in St. Clairsville, Ohio, since 2020, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Wendy's did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A Wendy's spokesperson told Queen City News, "We have a zero-tolerance policy for the type of serious conduct alleged. Stacy Austin is currently an independent franchise owner, but as the investigation and legal process continues, he will not be present in the restaurant."

Would Wendy's have been asked for a comment?

Would a similar story even mention what frachise he owns?

It’s not just any franchiser, it is one which regularly highlights its Christian values.

No doubt even Hooters has a zero tolerance policy of pedophiles as franchisees.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

Though FWIW, I’m quite sure Hooters would also have been asked for comment.

If it were a Wendy's franchisee, he wouldn't have made anything more than the local news.

Christianity may have teachings against sex outside of marriage, but has historically set the age of consent and minimum age of marriage as low as 12 (for female) or based on biological development like "puberty" or the first menstruation -- so there is a chance that, with the child victim being 15, Christianity would not consider this a case of pedophilia but merely one of extramarital sex.

Age of consent would vary with the society. There's a lot of difference between a 19th century girl raised on a farm in a rural area and a girl raised in a modern Western society. Same is true for a boy.

In my dad's day, high school was only three years and a young person was considered full grown and independent at 17. Not uncommon to see a girl get "in the family way" and marry at 16. Not uncommon to see a girl marry right after high school, regardless of situation.

Today? I don't think most kids have walking around sense at 18...

We’ve actually had a bunch. Usually it’s when a cute 28 year old female teacher fucks some high school kid.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.
