Any time a law says something about "a reasonable person" you should worry.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Next month, the infamous Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act finally comes into force. Essentially, it allows the courts to jail individuals for up to seven years for saying, writing or posting any comment that is deemed to “stir up hatred” against a protected group, including disability, race, religion and, inevitably, transgender identity.

“stir up hatred” against a protected group

Are bad guys protected, or only good guys?

Why do we have protected groups?

            Because we had oppressed groups.

Back in the 90’s I got to know a bunch of oil patch Scots from Grampian Region. With a bit of effort and nights of drinking I got to understand their brogue and expressions pretty well.

When I worked in the UK we used to go up to Aberdeen quite a bit - we ran training courses for Shell and others. It's surprising how quickly it all starts to make sense.
