@Jolly , not cool, man; whatever our disagreement, you really shouldn't bring my parent (or any other poster's parent) into this.

I expected a "Hell, no!" answer. Curious, I didn't get that.
There has to be a reason for your position on the exploitation of women and your acceptance of pornography as a good thing. It's not. It's a misogynistic, hurtful, business, that chews young women up, folding, spindling and mutilating their souls. The same is true for young homosexual men and gay porn. It makes drug junkies out of people, it ruins their future relationships, it tears families apart and estranges children from their parents.
Even Jon, our resident hedonist, wouldn't want his son or daughter working as an actor in the porn industry. That's not a career any parent wishes their children to aspire to...So why do you see no problem with it?Even many people who consume porn will acknowledge its basic problems, yet I don't think I've ever seen you write a single condemning sentence.
So, something is different in your upbringing, your outlook on life or the very nature of your soul.
It's not something that will keep me up at night, but there is a reason lurking in the background for your attitude. You like to put the rest of us under a microscope, so how does it feel to have the oculars and lenses lined up on you?

I've said a number of things here on numerous occasions that I don't actually believe. I find it quite gratifying if people take my trolling seriously.
Obviously, I have no idea what Ax actually thinks. He's a mysterie.

That's a fundamental difference I think. I fuck around a lot as well, but always with the underlying assumption that putting up with someone for decades (and in some instances meeting them in person) means there's a relationship worth respecting at least on some level. If after years of sharing family and life events someone feels obliged to treat this place like Reddit, I don't have any use for them. I'm here to fight and share jokes with friends. If I wanted to troll people I still consider randos I'd be on fucking Twitter.

Dumb question, but couldn't she change her name to Jane Smith? I am not saying go like the "witness protection program", but dye her hair, different haircut, etc. Wouldn't be easy, but a internet search of Jane Smith would eliminate a lot of casual searches.

You might be right, but some people are very good at recognizing other people, even when their appearance is changed.
All it takes is one.

This woman is just a single case. It seems premature to conclude anything from it just because her story reinforces ones own world view. Maybe there's three happy porn stars for every Riley Reid. Or not.
A quick ChatGPT query brought up a documentary, "After porn ends", which highlights the life of 9 former porn stars. Summary: " Some have no regrets about their years in the industry. For others, a career in the adult industry has proven to be a conduit to certain despair."
So, overall, it seems to be somewhat mixed.

I've seen that documentary. IIRC, one guy had no regrets, while all the rest had varying degrees of regret. The women seemed to suffer the most, for varying reasons.

Maybe actually watch the documentary you use to support your position.

I don't care about the topic enough to watch it, but by spending 30 seconds to read a summary I have actually done more research than those of you who merely checked that this single case fits their world view and hence must be true of all porn stars.

Again you speak out of your ass.
I work at a renaissance faire. Find the nearest tavern at any given faire, throw your beer and you stand a reasonable chance of hitting someone with an OnlyFans. I know folks who have foot fetish channels, sex toy channels, BDSM channels, and regularly visit Black Rose and the Baltimore Playhouse.
To a person they're the most fucked up, confused, depressed, anxiety-laden individuals. Most of them are on medication, work very difficult jobs with no advancement and not a single one of them coaches little league.
I don't actually take much of a moralizing stance on any of it, with the exception of monetizing vices, which I think is a bad idea in general. But there's a strong correlation between people who monetize their bodies and people who have serious problems to work out. Half the time the former follows the latter, half the time it's the reverse but the correlation is significant.

You weigh in on a conversation using ChatGPT output about a documentary as evidence, and then when suggested you actually watch it as it doesn't portray what you're implying, you backtrack, and claim you don't actually care enough to have an opinion.
But that didn't stop you from making a judgment call about others: you did more research than them, who used a "single case" to "fit their world view."
This is not a good faith conversation.

The summary of the documentary was not from ChatGPT but rather from the article about the documentary I linked to above. I only learned about the existence of that documentary from ChatGPT.
There is no reason to assume that that summary is inaccurate. I didn't backtrack on anything.
I still don't get why you feel you need to insult me personally. I didn't address you, or anyone else, personally in what I wrote.

More or less how I see it as well. Vice has been in civilizations since who knows when. Have never given much of any thought to the smut business, least of all how it affects its paid performers. No doubt that like with recovering alcoholics, there is a lot of remorse.
Hell, I wished I had never wasted all that earned money over the many years on my pet vice. I smoked cigarettes. The money could have gone into retirement savings instead.

You cited a documentary to support a position, and then you claim you don't care enough to have a position.
I still don't get why you feel you need to insult me personally. I didn't address you, or anyone else, personally in what I wrote.
Fair enough. My apologies. When you (1) replied to me directly and (2) said "those of you," I took your comment to mean I was included in "those of you."
If I was not included in "those of you," I regret the caustic tone in my reply.
