Price of popcorn is up too. You would be surprised (well not really) at the mark up of popcorn. I think it’s like 4 cents and sells for $10. Fake inflation to blame (or old fashioned pricing for demand).

Funny how times have changed, even in my lifetime. Used to look up movie showtimes in the newspaper, now you can reserve a specific seat on your magic phone.

I actually like trailers, so I don't mind them but these days with kids the schedule is a little more crowded and I'd prefer not to wait nearly a half-hour for a movie to start.

Standard uses a Xenon light source, Laser uses Laser. Resolution is the same but it's crisper, brighter, more colorful. Most IMAX also uses Xenon, Dolby uses dual laser, Prime also uses Laser. "Laser at AMC" isn't a premium, it's the new standard, but IDs the upgraded auditoriums.

In most cases, I don't care. Most movies are watchable just fine on a tablet, many are fine on even just a smartphone. Very, very few can exploit the differences between the big screen technologies in movie theaters.

Even for the movies that can exploit the nuanced differences, our aging eyes may not be able to tell the difference anyway. :man-shrugging:

I don't recall the details (SORRY!) but I do recall digging into the details between seeing Laser vs IMAX for Oppenheimer. I was trying to judge which would be the better viewing experience and IMAX won out.

I dont go to too many movies in the theatre, but I always think that they are better in the movie theatre than watching on a small screen.
