Tucker had some interesting comments on Stewart that echo my feelings about his type (also the types of the other two comedians mentioned). That they pose as people willing to stand for their principle no matter the consequences, while coincidentally always saying exactly what their audience most encourages and supports. Similar to any given TDS sufferer posting proudly on social media that they're willing to lose friends for their principles. These people inevitably lose zero meaningful relationships over their alleged principles, and in fact only attempt to gain social standing by telling everybody about how they're willing to lose friends.

They’re unlike the deeply principled patriot that is Tucker Carlson, then.

At least Carlson is consistent. I always have to ask whether Stewart is wearing his clown nose when he says something reasonable.

If you're consistently a motherfucker, that's not actually better than occasionally being one.

And I'm really having a hard time pinning anything on Stewart anywhere near as odious as what Carlson did with Putin. That guy's genuinely disgusting.

It wasn't just the interview. In fact, the interview wasn't the worst part. Going around Moscow implying that Russians have a better life than Americans? Fuck's sake, Horace.

People frequently accuse liberals of hating and betraying American values. What would you call what Carson did other than that? Just asking questions? Truth-telling? Lifting the lid on Western propaganda?

You would be interested to know, the bartender at the Royal Adelaide, just a stones throw from the Long Walk, told me that Randy Andy was a regular visitor and had a long line of ladies who came with him. Next time you are in the area, stop in, you might catch him.

I used to work in Chester, UK with a woman who ended up marrying the Duke of Westminster's chauffeur back in the 90's. The stories about Andrew even back then were less than complimentary.

I listened to the interview but I'm not familiar with his commentary on Russia. Having looked, he said the subways were clean? Is there something else? To be clear, it's your contention that an "American values" pundit can't compare America disfavorably with other countries in certain specific aspects, without running afoul of their stated principles?

He went to a Moscow supermarket and commented on the fact that Russian groceries were so much cheaper than in America.

“Coming to a Russian grocery store – the heart of evil – and seeing what things cost and how people live. It will radicalise you against our leaders. That’s how I feel anyway – radicalised,”

He was so angry at America because a typical weekly shop for Russian groceries cost $104 a week, and he was either too ill-informed to know, or deliberately neglected to point out, that Russians typically earn around $200 a week, and that typically more than 60% of Russians spend more than half their salary on food. I'm kinda' thinking he knew full well what Russians earn. The alternative explanation is that he's a really, really bad journalist and actually quite a stupid individual.

You can Google the actual clip if you're genuinely interested.

If Rachel Maddow went to Russia and said/did what Carlson said/did, there’d be relentless and passionate disdain for her from all conservatives.

That's an odd thought experiment, since she's already held in contempt by the other tribe. But it's absolutely par for the course for a lefty to compare America disfavorably with other countries, and in the process use dubious logic. It wouldn't appear on the radar of conservatives.

As far as Tucker is concerned, the phrase much loved by conservatives during the cold war, to wit - "If you like Russia so much, why don't you go and fucking live there?", springs to mind.

He's very clear in the interview I listened to recently that he thinks Russia is garbage compared to the US overall. He's particularly fond of the free speech one is granted in America.

So apparently he’s not consistent after all, because that guy was practically nursing a semi when he went grocery shopping in Moscow, and claimed to have been radicalized.

No, that's not what I think, but this isn't really about what I think, it's about why Tucker did what he did.

You tell me, why do you think he was being so pro Russia in his creepy Putin show?

You're the one who once said that 'Tucker was good people'. What was his intent in that show?
