I love gyros and enjoy them from our local take-out about once every six weeks.

I found that our local grocer has a "kit" for making them. Includes 6 pitas, the meat, and tzatziki sauce. We tried it last night and...wasn't bad! It comes frozen, and I thawed in the fridge over a few days.

Slice up some fresh tomatoes, onion and I'm good to go.

In Chicago, there's basically only one supplier of the meat, an outfit called "Kronos", which all the restaurants buy from. I have no idea of the supplier for this kit. The instructions say that I can nuke the meat, but I elected to warm it up in a skillet - get a little of that browning action.

Disclaimer - the tzatziki was from our take-out place. I had a couple of cupfuls from our last Doordash delivery.

Mmmm I really enjoy gyros. It’s like each ingredient I could eat independently or all together or mixed into a salad.

Our local take-out place lets you order a garden salad with gyro meat.

        Yum....

Love them. First one I ever had was in Chicago. Some place up in Skokie.

There used to be a place in Berwyn called "Kings and Queens." Everyone behind the counter was Greek, including the guy slicing the meat off the spit - he was missing the ring finger on his left hand. Probably ended up in someone's sammich.

Also had the best greasy skin-on thick-cut fries.

Long gone, sadly. It's a bank now.
