@Jolly said in DeWine vetos bill that would have banned gender-affirming care for trans youth:

Well, that was a political thumping...

    60% majority required.

    They got 75%,

Interesting, looks like a completely party line vote, but with 2 Republican Senators voting against the override, and 6 Reps that didn’t vote.

I still think DeWine was mostly right. The bill is just blatantly anti-trans reactionary. The medical and sports participation issues should have been handled separately. The GOP needs to avoid overreaching.

That certainly applies to the athletics side of this. My daughter tried to tell me there aren't that many so it's not an issue. It is to the legitimate women who have spent their life training for these events. In any event not many is unacceptable when there should be none. I don't believe transitioning is ever going to be widely accepted as normal.

It shouldn't be. Most of the stuff today has its roots in mass hysteria and mental illness.

Why is it we think somebody has a disease when they want to cut off their arm, but we're just fine with cutting off their penis.

In a country where some states are taking kids away from their parents if they refuse to allow transition, and in a world where 50 year old perverts are being allowed to change in dressing rooms with teenage girls and compete with them on a teenage girl’s swimming team, if Ohio is going to make error, I would rather it be in this direction.
