If I read it correct, the proposed law is basically "phasing out" gas powered, so that new lawn equipment sold after 2026 should not be. I dont think there is any problem in continuing to use gas powered equipment, just that you will be unable to buy it.

(Just a note: I dont agree with the law as it is written)

I did a study during my Masters program that made it pretty darn clear how much gas lawnmowers are spewing crap into the air. Spoiler alert: It's a crap ton.... like twice that of airplane pollution.

That being said, battery tech is getting better (supply of raw materials notwithstanding) and the benefits of electric yard equipment (snow blowers, mowers, trimmers, etc) are more of the incentive than a heavy handed law. Gas equipment is a necessity depending on your size of yard (hello Jolly) but for smaller uses, electric is nice because you avoid the maintenance headaches that can come with gasoline, oil, spark plugs, carburetors, etc.

For me? I like the sound and smell of a gas mower, in addition to the power, so I'm fine with mine. I could see getting an electric snow blower in a few years, my neighbor has one and it's pretty awesome. But for now, I'm guzzling gas just like @Klaus !

I've got an Ego self-propelled, it's had the original battery for 3 years, no problem. It takes about 45 minutes to mow the yard, I've never had it run out during that time period. So overall, it's great. The only time I break out the old John Deere is in the spring, when the first cutting is tall wet grass/lawn.
What 89th wrote is something I've always wondered: why aren't there pollution control gadgets on lawnmowers and especially those 2-cycle leaf blowers the professionals use? Air pollution and noise pollution, get rid of them all. And make it punishable by death if anyone runs loud equipment before 10 am. Except motorcycles of course.

We'd be better off losing the British style lawn as the default objective and decorating our houses more in accordance with the local climate rather than on that of a country where it rains on about 700 days in the year.

              I was only joking
