German resident Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg has owned Teslas for nearly two decades now, starting with a first-gen Tesla Roadster EV that he claims to have clocked up to 400,000 miles on, followed by his current car, a 2014 Tesla Model S all-electric luxury sedan with over a million miles on the odometer that he originally purchased used. As you can expect, there's been some maintenance required—so here's everything the million-mile Model S has been through so far, including motor and battery swaps, as well as some tips for keeping your Tesla on the road as long as this one's been.
Wait. A million miles in 2014 car?
That's 100K miles per year.
Yeah, he bought it used, but still....

Can we first just give him kudos for the Germanest sounding name ever?

Speaking as somebody who drives 350K miles over 10 years, and whose wife probably averaged close to 50K per year, I don’t find that very difficult.
-
I spent a couple of days with a large-animal veterinarian in Wisconsin. We spent 10 hours in the truck, and about ⅔ of that time was driving, the remainder dealing with clients.
I asked Rick how many miles per year, and he said about 50K. About a thousand miles a week.
I don't find 359K outrageous, or even 50K ridiculous.
But 2000 miles a week?

Can we give kudos to @jon-nyc for the most creative new adjective?
I believe the word is germane.

@89th the million-mile car is a 2014 model,
"German resident Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg has owned Teslas for nearly two decades now..."
"Nearly". 2004 is within 20 days of being 2 decades ago.
The roadster came out in 2008 - so 16 years ago, or so.
