I have a strand of 240. The first 35 aren’t lighting up. Goes right up to the 2nd rectifier. From there the rest are fine. I’ve replaced both fuses, the same. Checked all 35 of the unlit bulbs with a new one… Nothing.

    Suggestions?

      1. You're late, bro.
      2. Get LEDs. Just get LEDs. We didn't last year and none of our strands made it. We had one row in which the first half lit up, that's it. We chucked 'em and opted for the more robust solution.

Also, you know those goofy-ass huge freaking multicolored ones that were big in the 70s? We got them shits this year. They look deliciously tacky and just like grandma's house.

      Please love yourself.

I echo the LEDs. Scrap those old things.

Aqua, I like big colorful bulbs, but we have for decades now used these pearl globes. They look fantastic on the tree.

Skip the lights, they are not needed.
All you need is faith in Christ, then maybe go do some good in the spirit of the season.
          Merry Christmas!

But if you really want Christmas lights, just go LED.

Our street is half lit up. Peer pressure will force us to put up some lights next year, but we're skipping it this year. I'm not getting up there on my palatial roof though. The going rate is $600 for a pro to do it. But you buy the lights, and it's cheaper the following year.

Tacky’s mandatory for Christmas. I’m going almost artistic this year. Traditional lit up Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Woodstock skating (sorry, but I have always found Peanuts Christmas Merch poignantly contradictory. To make it worse, I found an LED tree that hits me as the contemporary version of the aluminum tree that Chuck was so depressed about, and the trio are happily skating around it. To make it worse, we have old light up green and red candy canes that don’t fit the scene, but still have to go up because… Well, they always do… I use strands of white lights to create the ice rink, but am running low…

Just to make it really tacky, I’ll probably toss some icicle lights that don’t match any of the other three things at all…

I’m going for “Christmas Threw Up On Our House” or “How to Piss Off the HOA” as the name of my masterpiece.

I scoff at houses that have pros do it. It looks "too" perfect and sterile. I also scoff now, but in a few years I'll probably fall from a ladder and you can do the scoffing at me. The price isn't bad though... our neighbor paid $750, and another neighbor paid $1200. All I can think of is "Wow, that would pay for most of the presents!"

Anyway... do something, even some light nets to throw on the bushes fig tree, or just some lit-up fake presents outside your door. Amazon makes it very easy to get some basic decorations.

                            @Mik nice tree!

@Aqua-Letifer yeah we have these LED C7 bulbs. Multi-color, durable, even in -30 degree months in Minnesota. What's funny is just tonight my wife was remarking that most of our neighborhood has white lights and it looks nice, but our street has mostly multi-color lights and it just looks nicer. We are happy.

And yes..... we went with the old school C7 incandescent last year and I quickly switched to LED after I had a few shattered bulbs during installation. The LEDs linked above are rock solid and look great. Colorful, warm, durable.

That being said... we have a few strings around some from columns using incandescent smaller lights and about 30% of each string is lost each year. Who knows why. Good luck LD!
