Again, no hurry. It’s not a reasonable thing to request in the moment. But you seem to think concerns about Trump being a threat to our democracy are ‘hysterical’, ‘deranged’, etc. Not just from this guy, it’s a common theme of yours that dates back to before the 2020 election.
At some point you should calmly tell us why.

Thank you for the posturing as the adult in the room. another thing you do periodically and oh so well. The null hypothesis is that a Trump presidency will not lead to a dictatorship. The burden of the argument would be on the people claiming dictatorship around the corner. The argument for that dictatorship was laid out in 8500 words. I'll tell you what. Lift a brain cell, read the piece, and point me to something in it you'd like me to respond to.
Education is extremely important.

I specifically asked not to answer it with questions. Presumably if one has posted many times over four years that such concerns are - not just unfounded but deranged and hysterical - one has given it some thought and can explain his conclusions.

Given what, specifically, some thought? Actually I've written here a few times that I'd love to see a story written about hypothetical scenarios in which Trump gains control of America. I would love to see people thinking about closing whatever loopholes exist. If a bad actor president can just take control if he chooses to, then obviously it's in everybody's best interest to do something about that. But as it is, the hysteria takes the shape of Trump Terrifying, with little substance to think about. That's why I actually took the time to read these 8500 words.

Meh. We went much deeper than that even leading up to the 2020 election. Once I even specifically brought up the idea of him conjuring up a slate of competing electors. You simply dismissed it out of faith that such a thing must be impossible.
But how deranged did such a concern turn out to be?
Again, this is just an example.

That would have led to a supreme court smack down, from the attempts I've heard of people trying to take that seriously.

It's so easy to read the whole piece with a recognition that most of the stuff was already happening, only in service of the author's tribe.
I guess jon would like everybody to believe that really compelling arguments exist, just not in that 8500 word piece, written by someone absolutely immersed in this stuff.

I've yet to figure out how Trump is so successful at terrifying some people.
He's been POTUS. Last time I looked, the government wasn't overthrown.
Some of his initiatives were upheld in court. Some weren't. Some of his projects and policies made it through the congressional process to become law. Some didn't.
I don't remember any nights where political rivals were arrested or murdered. Where people who disagreed with Trump were thrown in jail.
Fact is, I've seen more lawfare and political persecution from the Biden Administration, than happened in the Trump Administration. But the NYT and the Post are in the tank for Biden, and they provide political cover.

It might be.
On the other hand, I don’t see Trumpff as a threat to democracy or becoming a dictator. In the first instance he can’t seem to keep staff. Dictators need mindless minions of varying degrees of competence. Trump’s staff all seem to resign after brief tenures and none to happy with his crassness and lack of sound judgement. In the second instance, no one with half a brain listens to him or is convinced he truly is the American Moses he thinks he is.
Americans (and the world) can therefore rest easy because Master Corporal “Bone-spurs” Trump sure as hell ain’t a candidate ever to become the American Caesar
