There's no such thing as a free lunch.

The lunch in this case being a pizza.

    Or a piano.

The metaphor falls apart there but the point stands.

Horace, perhaps you cannot afford this digital piano at the moment. Think about it.

Then just buy the fucking piano and enjoy it. You’ll get over the remorse.

I won't have remorse. The point of this thread was the puzzly solution I offered, which I thought was mildly cute.

No one likes to pay shipping or additional postage or sales taxes and levies over and above the quoted price. I get that. You can mitigate the shipping cost by doing what others here have suggested. Those suggestions were not cute, they were instead, earnest and sincere.

Now just buy the fucking piano.

                Or buy a truck.

                Along with the piano.

Even better idea. I have a ‘96 Chev 2500 4X4 long box in winter storage. Runs well and has good all terrain rubber. First $750 USD cash offer takes it as is, where is.

Only 171 K miles. Doesn’t burn or leak so much as a drop of oil. Serpentine belt probably should be changed before any long distance highway driving. But that’s not a difficult DIY job.

Buy the way, Costco does monitor returns by membership. They will see the return the two purchases and will know what’s going on. They would likely still do it, but your account would likely be flagged.

I don't think I'll actually do this. Just a fun thought experiment. It would technically be stealing.

Let's say your local costco sells a digital piano, but the box is too big for your car. You can buy it on the website, but shipping is $90. How do you get a piano home with free shipping?

I asked ChatGPT your question, without feeding it your problem, and indeed it came up with your solution!

                              This is the ChatGPT output.

Getting a digital piano home without paying the hefty $90 shipping fee can be a bit of a puzzle, but here are a couple of creative ideas:

                              1. Borrow a Friend's Truck: If you have a friend, colleague, or neighbor with a truck, sweet-talking them into helping you transport the piano is a great option. There should be plenty of half-ton trucks in Texas, and they might be willing to lend a hand.

                              2. Return and Rebuy: Costco has a policy where if you return an item to the warehouse that was purchased online, you also get the shipping cost back. You could order online, have it delivered, then go to the warehouse, purchase it from the floor, take it to the returns desk, and return it as the online purchase to get the shipping fee refunded. However, keep in mind that this might not be entirely ethical.

                              3. Disassemble the Box: If the issue is simply the size of the box, you could consider carefully disassembling the box so that the individual pieces fit in your car. Be sure to do this without damaging the piano or its components.

I hope one of these suggestions helps you solve the puzzle of getting your digital piano home without breaking the bank on shi

Wow. I guess what that means is that the strategy has appeared on the internet before.
