Well, from reading that, I gather in this engagement they disabled all the features that make the F-22 a real combat aircraft.

As the article said, "one wing tied behind its back."

Maneuverable? Shut up - we'll put some drop tanks on it to make it a slug.

And, we'll make it blind so it's only eyeballs.

And, we'll put it in front of OTHER fighters.

Nice exercise, but what real-world lessons does it give? If you cripple a Raptor, it's just another plane.

        True.

But follow the link for the FA-50. A lot of capability for a cheap (relatively) combat aircraft.

Yeah, you've been evangelizing cheap combat aircraft for years. Indeed, the FA-50 seems very capable. But, for a real test, put it up against its peer-aircraft.

Or, in a real-world situation, when the planes are not crippled, the ROE are not restrictive, when weapons systems are all functioning, how long would a flight of cheap aircraft hold up against half a dozen Raptors?

I'm not denying the role of cheap fighter and CAS support aircraft <cough> Hawg <cough>. THey're essential. My only comment is that this is not a real-world test. But, people smarter than I am designed the games, so I'll shut up.
