Thinking of getting a digital piano
-
I do wonder if the wars between manufacturers are as intense as they appeared to be years ago. I am also trying to convince myself to buy a digital, as I've migrated away from my grand to my Arturia MKII which was for DAW, but now I use it daily for piano.
Unlike some, I hate going to any piano store to play the various instruments. Guitar World? I may be too much of a snob (tongue in cheek). Anyway, don't want to hijack this thread, but I do encourage the conversation. There may be a lot of people that drop in for the hands-on advice this forum provides. -

People come here mostly to educate themselves about the various ways in which Democrats are dumb, but I hope piano chat can also provide some educational value.

Horace, I could have sworn you said people come here because you are so incredibly handsome and slovenly beautifulyesque. I'd ask the ladies if that's true, but. . .
They are so inFATuated with me.

Today I learned that the space between the black keys in the groups of 2 is slightly more than the space between the keys in the groups of 3.
Racist.

When you have 2 blacks together it’s the suburbs. When 3 or more together it’s likely the projects and much smaller spaces

Saw this beautiful RX2 at the Kawai gallery. Custom made oak for a church, who had to back out of the deal at the last second. Too bad it's not a digital, and 35k more than the budget allows.
RX2s haven’t been built for 15 years. The oak models are also custom for the Mormon Church. That’s very odd…

She probably said GX2 and I misremembered.

I borrowed a piano stencil from the Kawai gallery. How serious is the rule about not putting a piano next to a window? This gets direct sunlight for a couple hours in the morning, but is shaded the majority of the day. Also there's a door to the outside there right behind it. This is the only place in the acoustically advantaged living room. Otherwise it'd go into my office.

Are the windows UV treated? I would also consider purchasing a hydrometer that measures AND RECORDS the temp and humidity and put it on a table smack in the middle and see how much variation you see over the course of the day.
-
Get an electric awning for outside the window and lower it in the mornings. They’re compact and not very visible when rolled up.

They aren't UV treated. Will do about the hydrometer.

There's a covered porch there already. The direct sun I'm talking about is the near-horizontal kind. It's an east-facing window.
