Not at all. A kid in Gaza is oppressed by members of his or her own tribe, Hamas; a terrorist organization founded on a fanatical sect of Islam known as Salafism. The fanaticism of Hamas is solely responsible for what is now happening in Gaza. While it is sad to see little Gazan children caught up in this war, my “Western virtue response” remains dormant or turned off. I am sure it will probably remain so at least until, I see the heads of Hamas leaders on pikes.

The fact remains that there is no collection of true statements that could be said, which would educate a western savior type to agree with you. Thus my point about the futility of education.

Well, my education and supplementary reading on the Middle East and Islam has led me to my conclusions on the matter. Education, whatever its shortcomings, is far better then living benighted.

I would be surprised if education correlates with agreement with you on this subject. Considering the hub of the opposing ideology is universities.

Education and discernment are very different things. This was not always the case, but now we have students being told what to think, not how.

In this case, there exist first-principles arguments which would imply support for things such as a cease fire on retaliations, after the massacre by Hamas. Without that cease fire, those same first principles lead to blaming the Jews for the civilian casualties, and round and round we go. Messaging and education will solve nothing, because the conflict doesn't depend on factual disagreements. Only on competing tribes with mutually exclusive ambitions which they each view as righteous and fair. We won't be wringing the first world savior complex out of western civilizaton any time soon, and that complex is what causes the division in the west.
