You understand incorrectly. It is held in restricted accounts in Qatar, spending is limited to humanitarian purposes and the international community, including the US, has oversight of how they get spent. None have been spent yet, so even the fungibility argument won’t work yet.

I’m afraid this war just might not be very useful as a domestic political cudgel. Heck, at some point you might just have to comment on the war itself.

I do believe this money will be going to a country who has run a banned nuclear program right under the international community's nose. I have much faith that they can shift and hide money to do whatever they wish with their $6B. Just because we do not agree with their world view or with their politics, does not mean they are stupid.

This attack on Israel wasn't planned last week. The number of rockets alone, is staggering. This has been in the works for quite some time. I don't know about HAMAS, but I'm pretty sure the Hezbollah folks have Iranian backing and would not act without Iran's input.

As for the attack being a domestic political cudgel, somebody once told me if an event happens during a Presidential term, that President must own it. The buck stops in the Oval Office. Therefore, wave the bloody flag and beat The Resident's ass to a pulp with it. He inherited a situation in the ME, that was as stable as it had been in several years and he's made several missteps. Maybe he can salvage something out of this mess, but I have my doubts...

All the more reason it’s silly to make a causal connection between the Qatari accounts and this.

Gosh bachophile, I can't imagine living in your world. Stay safe, our thoughts and prayers are with you, and I mean that. I've been tuned into this all morning. Israel is so very tiny on the map. And the Iranian Parliament jumps up and down in unison with their neanderthal group chants. Just sick.

"Humanitarian" could easily mean "attack Israel" in that culture.

I have no knowledge whether that $6B was fundamental in financing this attack, by the way, and I'm not claiming that it was.

Just that the Iranians seem to think they can do whatever they want with the money, despite what we're told.

Of course, why would we ever distrust the Iranians, right?

Not only is money fungible, different sources of money, allegedly siloed from one another, are also fungible. If a country produces just enough to feed itself, and gets a gift which is just enough to feed itself, it can use the gift to feed itself, and have its own production burning a hole in its pocket.

Ironic, since you’re the one taking the ayatollah’s version of things over the public agreement between the West and Qatar.

While the fungibility argument could be made six months from now, there simply wasn’t time for there to be a causal connection between that money and this operation.

What I really find tedious though, is that so much of Magat Twitter didn’t even bother condemning Hamas, they fell straight into their Blame America First schtick.

I have a friend (urologist) who's in Israel right now. I asked him how things are, and he said, "We're in the North, and it's business as usual right now."

That was at 8AM Chicago time...

I have no knowledge whether that $6B was fundamental in financing this attack, by the way, and I'm not claiming that it was.

Just that the Iranians seem to think they can do whatever they want with the money, despite what we're told.

Of course, why would we ever distrust the Iranians, right?

Ironic, since you’re the one taking the ayatollah’s version of things over the public agreement between the West and Qatar.

While the fungibility argument could be made six months from now, there simply wasn’t time for there to be a causal connection between that money and this operation.

What I really find tedious though, is that so much of Magat Twitter didn’t even bother condemning Hamas, they fell straight into their Blame America First schtick.

Apparently the system can be overwhelmed and they sent thousands of rockets.

                                          Only non-witches get due process.
