Do you think he had someone in mind? LOL
Gen. Milley in his farewell speech:
“We are unique among the world’s militaries. We don’t take an oath to a country. We don’t take an oath to a tribe. We don’t take an oath to a religion. We don’t take an oath to a king, or a queen, or to a tyrant or a dictator,” Milley said at a ceremony in Virginia.
“And we don’t take an oath to a wannabe dictator,” he continued. “We don’t take an oath to an individual. We take an oath to the Constitution, and we take an oath to the idea that is America — and we’re willing to die to protect it.” -

Miley is a political ass, who probably could fuck up commanding a platoon.
So why did Trump appoint him as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff? According to Wiki, it was his decision, going against the preference of Sec. of Defence, and the existing Chairman.
As we know, nobody picks better people than your choice for President. By his own admission he's an amazing judge of character.

It is amazing the number of high level people in his administration have come out and basically said that he is incompetent. I am not talking about people who were employee number 1xxx and never even met him, but those in the inner circle, who had daily, if not hourly contact with President Trump.
Milley
Mattis
Tillerson
Barr
Pompeo
Christie
Bolton
Kelly
Spencer
etc
etc
etcAt some point, even President Trump supporters should come to the realization that the problem is with the hirer, and not the hirees.
-
Yeah, there’s a line from Justified about how if everyone you meet is an asshole, you’re the asshole.

One of the big questions of people on the opposite of trump side of the aisle is, is not comprehending how trump supporters don’t see this. How is it not obvious. And then the ones who get the ire are the “hiress” as you call them.
They can’t all be idiots traitors shitheads. . Every appointee.
Case in point milley not able to run a platoon
-
Another case in point. Fuckhead Kelly
, "I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F Kelly as White House Chief of Staff. He is a Great American … and a Great Leader. John has also done a spectacular job at Homeland Security. He has been a true star of my Administration."

It seems to that there are three alternatives:
-
Trump hires idiots but only finds out too late that he made yet another terrible hiring mistake.
-
Trump hires fantastic people who become idiots after working for him after a couple of months
-
Trump hires good people who then discover that Trump is an idiot.
Or am I missing something here? Could one of Trump's supporters fill in a 4th alternative?

There's actually a video somewhere on this forum where somebody compiled all of these before and after clips. It was quite funny and sad at the same time.

Indeed, it is the real Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I suspect Trump‘s personal inadequacies play a large role. But even if one goes to the Daily Wire, it is difficult to find people unwilling to admit that. The most prominent person not admitting that currently is Vivek. I don’t know of another full stop Trump supporter of prominence. I am sure they exist.

No, I think most supporters simply prefer him to the other part candidate.
I think that’s looking at him from your own perspective and not necessarily the majority. To me, it feels like 35% of the Republicans are solid Trump loyalists. If you showed indisputable video of Trump killing Mother Theresa, half would believe it to be a media conspiracy and the other half would try to explain why Theresa had it coming.
Then there’s another 35% that are open to Trump, but aren’t blind loyalists. They range from those that want to believe Trump but harbor doubts to those that don’t like Trump at all but feel the alternative is worse. That’s where you fall. But the first 35% does exist, and it’s just as big of a bloc as yours…

I've said it before, but I've never seen the level of enthusiasm there was for Trump during the 2016 election, and this was in Massachusetts, FFS. When they had a little rally for him in the middle of town the number of pickup trucks driving by blaring their horns and carry MAGA flags was really noticeable.
Those folk don't just think he's better than the other guy. The woman who kept his sign up on the lawn after the election, but erased Pence's name wasn't just saying 'Meh, he's ok...'.

Gen. Kelly in a interview just a few days ago.
“A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’ A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family – for all Gold Star families – on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.
“A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women,” Kelly continued. “A person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason – in expectation that someone will take action. A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law.
“There is nothing more that can be said,” Kelly concluded. “God help us.”
