@Horace said in Will McCarthy be Vacated from Speakership? Who Will Succeed McCarthy?:
Is that like "death threats" and their usefulness in the social discussion?
I don't it is equivalent to death threats but it is pretty low to do something like that to a spouse.
Of course, there is no proof or evidence of who was doing the message to Mrs. Bacon.

He lost vote 2 by an even larger margin.
Time to go, Jimbo.

I think they’ll end up giving full speaker power to the pro-tem guy, without actually electing him speaker.
It’s sort of like the budget, they can’t pass one, so they do ‘continuing resolutions’. Now they bring that concept to house leadership itself.
-
McCarthy was close to and appointed that pro-tem guy, so it will be a lot like a continuance of McCarthy's speakership. And once given power, the pro-tem guy may have even freer rein to compromise with the Dems because he's not gunning for real Speakership and thus not as beholden to the moron caucus.
Is too optimistic?

John Boehner received a vote in this last tally. Lol. That’s a great ‘fuck you’ to Jordan, recall Boehner once called Jordan a ‘legislative terrorist’.

Interesting piece about how limping along with McHenry might work, written by a former staffer to Speaker Boehner.

The pro tempore guy Rep. McHenry is threatening to quit if the House GOP pressures him to move legislation without explicitly voting to expand the pro tempore's powers.
I don't blame him. It would be chicken shit of the House GOP if they force the pro tempore to move legislation without having the courage to vote to give the pro tempore that power.

Jim Jordan gets the axe from his caucus.

There wasn’t even another name considered. Literally a majority of the conference just voted for him to drop out of the race.

LOL
Gaetz, who led the charge against McCarthy, blamed “the swamp” for Jordan’s defeat. “The most popular Republican in the United States Congress was just knifed by a secret ballot, in a private meeting, in the basement of the Capitol,” he told reporters. “It’s as swampy as swamp gets,

At this point, every outcome is as likely as any other,” former Rep. Peter Meijer, a Michigan Republican who’s considering a Senate bid, told The Dispatch on Friday. “Might as well just start throwing a 222-sided die and keep holding votes round and round until January 3, 2025.”
