      I watched the series The Pacific a couple days ago.

      The Marines on Okinawa had similar accommodations.

        You’d think simple living conditions, perfectly cleaned each day, would be the standard in the military.

              An observation...Many moons ago, the armed forces did a lot of their own construction, maintenance, food service, etc. Contractors were only used for projects occasionally.

              It was a good way for guys to learn and practice skills.

              Maybe we need to get back to doing more of what we used to do.
