10 Reasons Windows Is Going in the Wrong Direction

Thereis a lot of steering you to Microsoft apps and such, but you can get around most of that. Google is kind of worse about trying to get you to sign in, although you can get around that too. But you have to look for the way.
Microsoft 'new aggregator' is nothing more than a tabloid full of junk stories. I fully expect to see Bat Boy articles soon.
I'm still on Windows 10, so I don't really know about 11 much. I think the difference here is when Apple puts out a new OS I usually think nothing of upgrading. With Windows I am reluctant and will do so only when forced.

The last semi-decent OS from Microsoft was Windows XP.
But the foundations of Windows - its core architectural decisions - were always rotten. The messy way the file system permissions work. The "registry". The way Windows deals with shared libraries, a.k.a "dll hell". The messy program install/deinstall process, where programs are never removed completely. And don't even get me started on the command line.

I upgrade to 11 a month or so ago. I haven't had any problems or annoyances.
What kind of freak wants his taskbar up the side of the screen anyway?

I upgraded to Windows 11 almost 2 years ago.
My taskbar is across the bottom, where it belongs, just like the Mac. I don't remember being required to have it on the left.
This story seems kind of old.
I have never liked the Registry, that is a bottleneck, a mess.

i have 11
im not techy enough to know whats good or bad. i just follow instructions and things seem to work ok

Now that I read a little more, this article is really out of date.
He is talking about "cool features from Windows Phone"
Huh?
I'm pretty sure that I'm the only person within a thousand miles who can actually see a Windows phone from where I am now sitting. It has been a while since I powered it on, but it is sitting right here on the shelf.

@Mik said in 10 Reasons Windows Is Going in the Wrong Direction:
Why did you decide to upgrade?
Mrs. Phibes bought a new laptop with it installed, and everything seemed fine, and we'd upgraded at work, so figured I might as well. Performance and security are supposed to be a little better than 10.
