The tropical storm is now arriving.

We are inside the 70-80 MPH wind zone for tomorrow, 4-6 inches of rain.

    Cancel everything.

That's OK, I played this morning, with some wind. I'm hoping to be back on the course Sunday AM, with some puddles.

The current track forecast has the eye 15 miles west of my house just after 8:00 PM tomorrow. At that point winds will be about 45 mph.

Yes I don't think we'll get hit too hard - I imagine you'll be back out there 🙂 - Marko took off from work this morning and did the transfer station run he usually does Saturday morning . He said they were already putting the road flooded out signs on Rescue. It does look like the wind is beginning to pick up a little when I look at top of the trees. Stay safe and dry!

Finley’s soccer is already canceled. They actually think we could see up to a foot of storm surge at our section of the Potomac…

They started handing out sand bags around 1 pm. Everything is cancelled tomorrow, everything closed. Town's definitely flooding, just a question of how much.

I hit up the pier around sunset and something happened that I've never seen before. The sky broke my camera.

So many conflicting oranges and blues that my camera had no idea what the fuck white balance to use. I checked my phone — same thing. Neither could make sense of anything I pointed a lens at. It's like the sky was just shitting colors.

This is as accurate as I could get after fixing what was recorded. You just literally could not take a photograph of what your eyes were looking at.

Yes, when a storm comes from the east and south east it pushes the water into Hampton Roads and up the Chesapeake Bay and rivers (Potomac, York, James, Rappahannock). Everything backs up.

We live on a Creek off the James where we see this action regularly. Given the direction of this storm we could see some really high rivers and creeks. The neighborhood is 30 feet above sea level so we will just get wet. But I expect we'll see a lot of unusually high water.

Anyone's guess! Could be a nothingburger, could turn the roads to oatmeal. We're in a safe spot in terms of flooding but hard to say what'll happen down the road.

And CNU is roughly 30 feet above sea level too. They should be safe from any surge, but might see some local flooding.

Yeah, I already told the kid to just make sure he’s stocked in food and spend the weekend in his dorm/apartment. His girl lives off campus in a 1 story house that has me a little concerned about localized flooding. No sump-pumps so I advised her to just get everything (especially electronics and power cables) off the floor and to spend the weekend at Luke’s…

All good here. Rain coming down pretty good right now and was quite the windy night but still have power and no major limbs or trees down. Should be through by this evening.
