There may be a reasonable explanation for the selfie: if I'm out and about and what to see what my face look like (e.g., to see how bad the bleeding is on my head or face), more likely than not it's easier to pull out my cellphone than to find a mirror that will let me see my whole face. Yeah, if I'm near my car, the car would have side mirrors and rear view mirror, but none of these mirrors will work as well or as convenient as my cellphone camera in selfie mode if the objective is to inspect my own head/face. If I'm already using that cellphone camera to inspect my own head/face, I might as well take pictures while at it.
So no, I don't think the picture was necessarily taken for posting on social media. More likely I think it's taken in the process of inspecting one's own condition. Using one of the photos later on social media was an afterthought.

So after reading her post, you don't think her headspace is such that she considered the social media currency of such a picture at all at the time she took it?

We really shouldn't be giving her a hard time for the post made after she got beaten up. That was made on a very shitty day, and whatever she says it's possible to make fun of it.
It's the post from 2020 that stinks.

Leveraging an assault for social media currency is incredibly narcissistic, and the injustice of what happened to her is completely unrelated to that.
I'm only talking about the post and not the assault because I think we're all in agreement that the assault was disgusting. As to the post, I don't see how you can possibly read what she posted and not see it as extreme attention-seeking behavior. Giving someone a pass for that is exactly how you get the policies enacted that create incidents like this.

I don't think it is narcissistic when we have people trying to shut down law enforcement and let these animals roam and prey. I think it's survival. We need to see more of it.

I agree, but I can't read her post and see that as her intent. In online communities, relevance and standing is determined by the level to which you've been put upon and her post was obviously written in an attempt to maximize that. And prior to this, she's had a strong and consistent track record of narcissistic behavior on social media.
