The new Indiana Jones movie

You know they reshot the ending, right? I mean a completely different take because the original ending could have sparked the civil war that’s coming? It was that offensive and disturbing. Just because somebody stepped in and made them change it doesn’t make me ready to forgive and forget and give them my money.

Young Indy dies in the past. This causes a paradox which causes old Indy to fade away to nothing as he never existed. As this happened prior to Raiders and all of the movies, they never happened… Of course, that would mean the Nazis win… So our intrepid young female hero takes on Indy’s mantle. They then proceeded to show snapshots of her in full Indy regalia at various points in Indiana’s movie adventures… Climbing aboard the sub in Raiders, rescuing the Indian kids in Temple of Doom, etc…
The audience at the screenings went nuts. And remember, these aren’t regular test screenings. Disney and LucasFilm only give “friends and family” screenings. The audience is very friendly to the product…
I also understand that they cut out about 30% of the young lady calling Indy out on his white male privilege and calling him a colonizer that stole from indigenous peoples. They kept some, of course…

Now the producers denied it, but there were dozens of reports at the time. Then a few months later John Williams spilled the beans in an interview that he had essentially had to restore the entire second half of the movie due to an immense reshoot.

I have to admit, I'm struggling to force myself to give a huge shit about this. At least Hollywood is only re-writing completely made-up history, rather than the actual stuff.
U-571 anybody?

I suppose they are trying to be able to make more Indy movies without Harrison Ford. Yawn.
Why bother? We're a year or two out from AI actors. Why not just wait?

There really wasn't any. I was on the lookout for ideological preaching given that I had heard noises.
The closest she came to scolding him was when he claimed his career was all about reverence for the past and she says there was a large element of status seeking of his own. (not those words).

The original Jones movies had a white male hero.
This is always a mistake.
So is letting Kathleen Kennedy anywhere close to a piece of paper but what are you going to do.

Apparently it's not just lefties who are over-sensitive.
Remember all the fuss about female ghost busters? My God, you'd have thought somebody had re-written Romeo and Juliet to be in America or something.

Listen, since Hollywood mistakenly renamed "The Traitor" as "The Patriot", it's all been downhill.
And don't get me started on "Objective, Burma!"
