120,000. That's my SWAG.
Dirty little secret....Something the boys in the newsroom kinda forgot...We are now testing out the wazoo. There are so many tests in the pipeline, stuff is getting backed up. Routine COVID tests are back to taking a week instead of 48 hours. Giddy-up stuff is still being done pretty quickly, but the routine, non-admission stuff is moving at a slow pace.
And we are seeing a positive shit-load of positives that are either asymptomatic or lightly symptomatic.

True we didn’t build enough testing capacity. That’s one of our failures.

I’ve heard the 7 day figure thrown around a lot. I’ve heard anecdote going out to 14 days.
Can’t have a test and trace approach with those numbers.

You couldn't snap your fingers in the Marvel Comic Universe and build testing capacity as fast as we needed it. Maybe in some other U.S., without the FDA and CLIA 88, it could be done...But even with knocking down walls right and left, we still wound up with some crappy tests. That will even itself out, but it all takes time...
