According to Cisco’s (NASDAQ: CSCO) latest diversity report, 3.8% of its overall workforce is Black, along with 2.2% of its “leadership and people managers.” No board members are Blac: Cisco’s report states the board is 90% white and 10% Asian.
And so this is how they fix that problem. Geez.

I really would not want to be a white person competing for a job right now.

A handful of my rejection emails have come after my Skype call. I'm sure it's just because I'm ugly.

You think they're going away from that, not toward?
That's yet another thing that makes freelancing all-in appealing to me now: in addition to not putting all your eggs in one basket, no one wants to meet you in person. It's "what do you have" and "yeah, we can use that." Aside from restaurant work, it's the closest I've come to working in a true meritocracy.

If my wife had an accident of some sort, and needed a surgeon, I'm not sure whether I would think it, or actually say it and follow through.
Me: "I'm sorry Dr., but since you are black or African-American (could you clarify which one I should use so as not to offend you?) I have to consider the possibility that you are not as qualified as I would expect, given the fact that you likely enjoyed affirmative action to get where you are, and that therefore you are likely not as capable as a non-black doctor. I would ask for another surgeon Dr., I'm sure you understand my apprehension in regards to your educational background and skills."
Of course if someone that looked like Dr. George walked in, with a big bird on his shoulder, and a humongous cat on a leash, I'd say:
"Excuse me, could you bring the black guy back?"

I was going to post three different funny replies and realized that each of them would mean my son couldn’t be elected dog-catcher if they ever went public.
But trust me, they were hilarious.

Well, I was so close to buying a Cisco router, but decided on a much cheaper TRENDnet router instead. Nothing to do with this "massacre," however, just a simple business "bang for the buck" calculation.
